Movie of the Week: Queen of Katwe

Queen of Katwe follows the life of a young woman who was born and raised in a ghetto in Uganda. She is found to be exceptionally talented in the game of chess by her chess instructor. As a result, she decides to compete in international chess competitions to get out of the ghetto.

The film “Queen of Katwe” portrays a story that motivates viewers from all walks of life and socioeconomic backgrounds. The film does an excellent job of capturing the difficulty of life in a ghetto, particularly in the scenes involving the eviction and the automobile accident.

Admittedly, I don’t know how accurate the movie is. Nonetheless, it’s a powerful and inspiring story.
