The internet is a great treasure for someone who knows how to use it. Instead of killing off time on platforms like Twitter and Instagram, you can use the hundreds of websites out there that can help you spend your time more productively. Almost every day, an interactive website is created by people for the needs of other people, and some of these websites contain amazing information and ideas.
I listed below 7 beautiful websites that I have a great experience using and have learned a lot from for you. They are projects that are not too known to the public; however, once you see these websites, you may tell yourself, “I wish I had known about this way before.” I hope that you will be able to enjoy these websites as much as I have.
Earth Nullschool
Earth Nullschool is a website that provides an interactive map with detailed information about all the winds worldwide. That’s why Earth Nullschool is a great tool to help discover the current weather conditions around the world. Apart from that, this website gives live information about the current wind speed and direction, ocean surface currents and temperatures, and anomalies at selected heights above the earth’s surface.
The information and details on the website are updated every three hours based on NASA’s supercomputer. How does NASA collect this information? As you can probably guess, NASA satellites obtain weather data by using radio waves in space. The satellites then share this data with all of the satellite dishes on earth, and Earth Nullschool uses this data to update its website every three hours.
The Collected Papers of Albert Einstein
Everyone probably knows some sort of information about Albert Einstein. However, the information we have so far has been limited. This is because after Einstein died, tens of thousands of documents were left behind, and we had no chance to access most of them.
The Princeton University Press has completed a tremendous job and made all of Einstein’s left-behind legacy available to the public. The Collected Papers of Einstein project has collected around 30,000 documents from Einstein and loaded them into their website.
In addition, they have classified the documents they have shared according to Einstein’s period in life and have compiled them into books. You can find all the books here.
Brilliant
Brilliant.org is a tool developed by two Silicon Valley engineers who’ve gone bonkers over fundamental fields such as math and science. They’ve come up with a very different style and are much more effective than all other tools used to teach math and science. Instead of explanatory videos, they have a method where self-motivated individuals can learn by reading up on the topics and solving related problems.
If we could just teach math and science as Brilliant does, I am confident that many issues would be resolved. But this tool is effective for those with a good grasp of mathematics and science, as some of the content on the site can pose a challenge. And I have very wonderful news for you! If you are a teacher and give a good reason to convince the Brilliant team, they will make it free for you!
River Runner
It is always nice to watch rain droplets fall on earth. It brings a person peace and lets their mind slip away into deeper thoughts. However, have you thought about where a rain droplet goes after it falls on earth? Yes, a raindrop interestingly follows a certain path and goes to a very different place from where it fell on earth. Sam Learner created the River Runner website that interactively shows us where a raindrop goes after it falls on the earth. For example, A raindrop that fell on Arizona’s Tonto National Forest travels 724 km and arrives in Golfo, located in California.
The Fry Universe
Even if the world’s best chef comes to my house or the kings of the Fusion cuisine come and ask me for the food I want, my answer will always be the same: homemade french fries. I do not believe that anyone dislikes french fries in this world, and that’s why the Fry Universe is a very special website for me.
Chris Williams created a website that discusses the 3D models of various french fries and the designs and physics behind them. Obtaining interesting information about one’s likes also increases the taste behind it.
Why Time Flies?
Everyone on the face of the earth has pointed out at some moment that time is flying away. It has always scared me how time has gone so fast in some parts of my life. As a person nearing age 40, I have no idea how time has passed in my past.
I think that Maximilian Kiener also agrees with me because he has explained the answer to this question in a very sweet website project. Why Time Flies is a fantastic website showing how time flies as we age.
As you spend more time on the website, you will be able to detect observations related to the human brain’s perception of time.
Neal.Fun
Neal.Fun may be the best website in the world. It’s a great website where you can do many things like go all the way down to the bottom of the ocean, spend Bill Gates money, design your own iPhone, and stack the rocks on the ocean’s edge. There are especially a lot of things worth discovering with your child. It’s a website type that makes you laugh and think simultaneously.
